Ten of my Favorite Things About Christmas Time

  1. Christmas Movies! I have a list of Christmas movies I have to watch between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Including Elf, All I Want for Christmas, White Christmas, The Santa Claus, Home Alone, The Grinch, Polar Express, Miracle on 34th St, and Samantha: An American Girl Holiday (anybody else grow up obsessed with American Girl Dolls?!)
  2. Christmas Pajamas – On Christmas Eve we open one present with new pajamas in it to wear that night. Most of the time their matching (I love anything matching). I love wearing my Christmas pajamas of the past all December long.
  3. Christmas Lights – How can one be unhappy driving home when there are Christmas lights everywhere! I for one would not put up a fight to leaving them up all year long. I love driving around with Brian a couple days before Christmas to ooh and ahh at all the light displays.
  4. Christmas Music – All day every day from the classics to N’Sync to Penatonix. I love it.
  5. The Food – Christmas season brings the best food from homemade sugar cookies to gluten free peppermint chocolate cookies at Trader Joes. From the eggnog to the chocolate in advent calendars. We always have my moms eggs benedict Christmas morning and I wait all year long for it.
  6. Christmas Cards! I love getting Christmas cards. I love seeing how family pictures grow and change every year. I’m a huge fan of snail mail and I love how much I receive around Christmas.
  7. The Spirit – Everywhere you go there is a cheer in the air, a spirit of giving, thinking of others. If only people had the spirit of Christmas all year long.
  8. The Traditions – I love Christmas traditions, there are things that I have done for as long as I can remember. Those moments and traditions become more dear as each year passes. I can’t wait to start new traditions and continue old traditions when I have kids.
  9. Time With Family – Through out the year it can feel so hard to make time for family gatherings, but somehow around Christmas it all works out. I’m so grateful for the time spent with family specially during the holiday season.
  10. The amazement, the wonder, the anticipation, the Christmas eve church services. It truly is the best time of the year.
